Hugh Jackman – $55 Million

Hugh Jackman is best known for playing Wolverine in the  X-Men movies. However, the seasoned actor stirred audiences with his emotional performance as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Mark Wahlberg – $52 Million

Mark Wahlberg first came to fame as the younger brother of Donnie Wahlberg, leader of the successful boy band New Kids on the Block. Wahlberg went on to be the front man for his own band, Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch. He left the group to pursue his acting career, which proved to be a great decision. Wahlberg has since starred in 36 films since 1993. In 2006, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in The Departed. His film, Ted, was an unexpected box office success, earning $550 million with a production budget of a mere $50 million. Wahlberg’s 2013 film, Pain and Gain, teams Wahlberg with Dwayne Johnson, also one of Hollywood’s top earners.

Dwayne Johnson – $46 Million

During 2013, Dwayne Johnson had movies in the box office top 10 for more than 10 weeks: Fast & Furious 6, grossing more than $500 million in two weeks and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Johnson is also the highest grossing actor in Hollywood. Once a WWE wrestler, The Rock, Johnson left the ring in 2003 for a career in film, yet continues to appear in WWE matches. Johnson’s success is attributed to his willingness to star in multiple and diverse films

Leonardo DiCaprio – $39 Million

Leonardo DiCaprio’s films display his major talent as an actor, and, although many of his films tend to be dark, his movies are always popular. Since DiCaprio’s box office smash Titantic (the second highest grossing film of all time), the actor has moved from romance to drama and intrigue, starring in films like Inception, Shutter Island, and J. Edgar. The 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby showcased DiCaprio’s skills and the film grossed $250 million at the box office. The Great Gatsby also made the Washington Post’s Family Filmgoer’s best family films of 2013, listed as one of the best movies for teens.
