Our story begins with me living in Longview, TX and Jonathan living in Waco, TX. (It really is true that if it weren’t for ChristianMingle we would have never met!) I decided to join ChristianMingle because I’d been hurt several times in the past. I realized that God wasn’t at the center of those relationships, so they were doomed from the beginning. Change was in order! I had my reservations about the site at first because I had tried others and they didn’t work out.

I didn’t know how long I would stay on ChristianMingle but I signed up for a subscription plan with auto-renewal. It was in the second month that Jonathan and I met. To this day we both still laugh and thank God for that auto-renew and the craziness that ensued! I think I got a message from him and it just took off from there. That was March 26, 2011.

From that point on, we were in constant contact. I felt a connection with him. We just “clicked.” Our first date was April 10, 2011 and that connection was confirmed. The date went so smoothly! No “awkward moments of silence.” We had so much in common: we were both geeky and two big kids at heart. In fact, one of the first things he said to me was, “I hope I’m not too geeky for you.” I replied, “Oh, you have no idea!” Haha! We were inseparable.

On June 7, 2011, my 25th birthday, Jonathan proposed to me in front of my family during a quaint little Chinese-themed birthday celebration at my mom’s house via a homemade fortune cookie. My ring was inside! Both of our families had concerns about us getting engaged so early; however, they saw how we were together and thus didn’t express that concern vocally. His family got to know me, and mine came to know him. Jonathan and I believed that if it felt “right” and “good,” then why wait? We both felt at peace and at ease with one another, a feeling I’d never felt before! We both wanted the same things out of life: a life-long partner, a partner in Christ, and a family.

The first date set for our wedding was February 11, 2012 but a move to Dallas drained the wedding budget so we had to change the date. The new date, and this time the marriage, took place on December 1, 2012 in a beautiful, winter-themed ceremony and reception at a church in my hometown.

Things could not be better for us! We’re both just as happy as can be. We want to thank ChristianMingle, again, from the bottom of our hearts!
