This post is being written from a different city, state and coffee shop than the rest of my posts. After a 42 hour drive, my wife and I have finally landed at our new home in Bellingham, WA. Crazy, right?

We just moved across the county for an amazing job opportunity, and quite frankly it’s what inspired me to write this post. My wife and I decided to step off the boat of comfort and ignite a faith that would bring us closer to God himself.

Yes, that is a Matthew 14:22-33 reference.

I’ve come to realize that throughout my life, God seems to work most evidently when I am out of my comfort zone, uncomfortable and not complacent. Why? Because in my own personal discomfort I rely on God’s comfort and guidance to direct me towards where He wants me to be.

It’s easy to live life in “Safe-Mode,” but is that what God intended? I’d have to say NO. Safe-mode is a time-bomb that slowly destroys our creativity, and indefinitely deteriorates our faith in Jesus Christ.

I’m not saying you need to jump into a lion’s cage or anything. But in all seriousness, what’s to lose? (Other than your arm) Just kidding.

But seriously …

Jump off the boat! Make some bold moves! STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE and put yourself in situations that force you to depend on the greatness and power of God.

Post Challenge: If you truly believe God is great, then give Him room to prove it! Stop trying to comfortably do things on your own, and realize that even Jesus himself had 12 Disciples. They were all bold, courageous and stepped out when everyone else was looking to retreat to safety.

Build an Ark. Face the giant. Drop your net. Step off the boat.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9
