I (Shelly) had been on the site for a few months (as stargazer) and hadn’t met “the one” yet. One night, I was perusing the new profiles and I happened to find KUFan57. His profile caught my eye for a few reasons. The profile was interesting and I liked the way he presented himself. He also had a great photo of him dunking a basketball. We also shared our faith which was a critical component for me. We are both Assemblies of God and there are not a lot of AG people on dating sites for some reason. I was immediately interested!

Being a little old fashioned, even in this modern world, I really wanted him to contact me first. So I waited a few days. After two days I could tell he had not viewed my profile and I was pretty sure he was getting attention from others, so I went ahead and emailed him on June 10, 2011. He responded and our email exchanges progressed rather quickly. We had an easy manner of communicating and I really liked what he had to say. Our email exchanges soon led to wanting to speak on the phone with each other. He called and we spoke for about an hour. He asked if he could call again in the evening and I said wholeheartedly “Yes!” He called back that night and we talked for 7 hours! We just clicked!

Our first date was the following week on June 17, 2011 on a Sunday. After sitting, talking and laughing in the restaurant for four hours, we decided to leave. That first date lasted six hours! He was funny, engaging, silly, and prayed for our date and our meal. He has made me laugh through our entire relationship which is just what I wanted and was looking for! It is a profoundly wonderful experience to be equally yoked.

He proposed on December 14, 2011 and we were married in Nassau, Bahamas on the beach on July 16, 2012. And we lived happily ever after.
