2 Corinthians 3:18: So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

You have to admit, celebrating the most grotesque torture a man could face, seems sadistic. What’s so good about Friday?

The Cross is the greatest of all reversals. The enormity of what Christ accomplished is overwhelming. So much achieved. All for me.

Luke 23:45-46: Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last.

When sin entered the world, there came a barrier between man and God. A once open and transparent relationship, became strained and broken. A veil was created so sinful man could not behold the wondrous presence of the Lord.

That changed with the Cross. The payment for sin, once and for all, means that the veil has been taken away. We can now behold the glory of the Lord in all fullness.

But wait, there’s more! Not only are we able to see His glory, as a new creation, we reflect it. Looking in the mirror, no longer do we see an incomplete, sinful, hurt, and broken image. But we see Him. And we see ourselves, in Christ.

The veil of pain, anger, and deceit is removed. As He is, so are we in this world. Behold Him and be changed to His beauty.
