When I joined ChristianMingle, I was looking to make friends and if something else came of it, I would take it one day at a time. I was skeptical and cautious at first, but I met several people that remained “just friends.”

In November of 2012, I saw Roger’s picture and read his profile introduction. I wanted to know more about him. He looked like he would be a sweet guy, so I sent him a message! We messaged on the site a few times, just to be friendly, and then we didn’t contact each other for several weeks.

In January of 2013, we started messaging again and decided to exchange email addresses. We began to share our stories with one another. I shared with him about how God brought me through breast cancer, and he told me that he was inspired! Sometimes, when sharing something that personal, it will send a person of the opposite sex in the opposite direction; but not Roger! He was genuine. We later exchanged phone numbers and texted for a few weeks.

We decided to meet in February of 2013. He had told me that he was thinking about getting a tattoo of a cross with a crown, as a reminder of some things that God had brought him through. He had never gotten a tattoo and I had, so jokingly I told him I would come and hold his hand! He accepted, so I made the hour drive from my house to his, not to hold his hand, but just to hang out with him. He works for a local TV station and gave me the option of meeting him at his work, or at his home. I met him at his home because I knew he was different, and when I met him face-to-face, my assumption was confirmed! He was a sincere gentleman and so funny. He did silly stuff just like I did and we both shared the same philosophy on life, which is simply, “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Live It. Enjoy It!” We talked about our past, my kids, our churches, work, and best of all, we laughed a lot! I love to smile and I noticed right away that he smiled a lot too. He was happy with his life and I was happy with mine, and we both could tell that about each other right away.

In our previous conversations, we had told each other that if it was in God’s plan for us to be with anyone else, that we would know it. We had both prayed for His direction before we ever met. By the time our date was over that night, we had both had a blast! We agreed that we would be friends and if something else came of it, great, but if not, we would just remain friends.

After a couple of weeks, he came to my hometown and had pizza with me and my kids. They immediately liked him! From then on, we would take turns every weekend driving many miles to each other’s home. We would either go out to eat, go on hikes, watch movies, ride his motorcycle, visit each other’s church, or visit each other’s families. We did everything together and there was never a dull moment because we were either laughing with each other or picking at each other!

By the end of May, we had already discussed getting married. We were in love and knew that everything was different between us than it had been in our past relationships. On July 19th, he presented me a ring and asked me to marry him! With happy tears in my eyes, I said “YES!” We were so happy and we still are. It’s almost unbelievable what God does when you ask for His guidance! We were married in a very private ceremony on September 26th by his pastor.

There are no words to completely describe how we feel about each other. We have both said many times to each other, “I had heard other people talk about finding their ‘Soul Mate,’ but I never believed them and thought they were crazy until I met YOU!”

Hunter Hayes’s song, “I Want Crazy” best describes our relationship even from the very beginning: “I don’t want good and I don’t want good enough, I can’t sleep, can’t breathe without your love… Front porch and one more kiss, It doesn’t make sense to anybody else..Who cares if you’re all I think about, I’ve searched the world and I know now..It ain’t right if you ain’t lost your mind….Yeah, I don’t want easy..I want crazy…Are you with me baby?
Let’s be Crazy!”

God definitely made us for each other and we thank Him for all He has done. Thank-you, Christian Mingle for your site! Without it, we may never have found our other half of “Crazy” that God blessed us with!
