After seven years of being single, I had come to terms with the fact that God may want me to remain single.  However, when I received the first email from Amber, I had a feeling there was something different about her.  We exchanged emails for a week or so, with every conversation being God centered; what He had done in our lives, where He had taken us, and where we wanted Him to take us.  About three weeks after exchanging emails and texts, we met in-person for the first time.  I knew from the moment we sat down that this was it;  from the prayer before the meal, to meeting her parents and talking about what it meant to have God at the center of a person’s life was just a surreal experience, and one that I never wanted to end.  I brought to her my love for missions, youth ministry, and food; and she brought to me patience, a love and compassion for youth ministry, and an ability to make any situation light and easy going.

We had the blessing of going on our first mission trip together to Nicaragua in November, and I knew then that I wanted to ask her to marry me.  I told the youth group about my proposal plan, and we worked and planned it together for a few weeks.  On January 18th, one of the youth brought her into the sanctuary at church and sat her down on the front pew.  A slideshow of our first ten months together started playing, ending with a video of me telling her how much she meant to me.  I walked up behind her and got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.  The moment she said yes, was one that I will always cherish.  We are currently planning our wedding and we both cannot wait until October to start our lives together as husband and wife!  Thank-you ChristianMingle and praise be to God for allowing us to be blessed by each other!

Advice:

I think the best advice I can give anyone on ChristianMingle is to ask the hard questions.  Don’t back away from your faith in God and what He has called you to do.  Look for someone that not only loves God more than anything, but someone who can be a partner with you in the area that God has called you to be a servant.  There are thousands of great people on the site; godly, servant hearted people, but look for the one that seems unique to you, and will not only be a great partner in love, but one in ministry as well!
