Our love story began about a year and a half ago on March 3rd, 2014. My name is Agueda and I am from Guatemala. My mom had just passed away and I am an only child. I was devastated. A friend of mine living in the United States suggested I sign up for ChristianMingle and that God may help me through your website. At first I was very hesitant because I was very skeptical of online dating. Eventually I decided to give it a try not expecting much. I prayed, asking God to guide me towards the man he had prepared for me.

Manny similarly had reservations about online dating, however his sister and mom convinced him that it could be a good way to meet a Christian girl. Manny’s picture appeared on my screen. I liked him a lot, but was nervous he wouldn’t be interested in me. Despite my initial apprehension I sent him a message… and he responded. At first I was interested in finding a guy that spoke Spanish, but kept coming back to Manny’s profile.

I was talking to a Latin guy living in the same state as Manny, and he was talking to a Canadian girl. I planned to visit the guy but knew in my heart he wasn’t ‘The One.’ I prayed God would guide me to who I should be with. My heart kept returning to Manny. I traveled to the United States and visited Manny instead of the other guy.

When I met Manny for the first time, I felt the presence of God in my life. He, his family, and church made me feel so loved and welcome.  I could see God in his heart and in that moment, I knew that this was where God wanted me to be and that his blessings are perfect, and he felt the same in his heart… The day after I arrived, April 17th, Manny took me to Niagara Falls and asked me to be his girlfriend; his eyes were so bright, I thought that it was all turning out just the way I had prayed.

That day was the beginning of our beautiful love story. Manny went to Guatemala twice to visit my family, my friends, and my church, and I have been back several times to visit his. We have kept our love alive despite the distance. We pray together daily for our relationship, family, and friends. On December 17th, 2014, we were engaged and we got married on July 11th, 2015.

When you place you plans in God’s hands, he will guide you and work in your life. God transcends ethnic groups, social status, cultural differences and even language barriers. His will for your life is more perfect than you could imagine. As the Bible says:  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Place your dreams in God’s hands.
