Due to a 900 mile distance and because we are from two different countries, it seemed unlikely at first that Lloyd and I would communicate much. Our first contact was on July 13, 2012. At that time, both of us were seeking God’s will and direction for our lives. Lloyd was careful to make sure any ladies that contacted him through ChristianMingle understood that he was not yet “dating”, just getting to know them. It was important that any relationship not begin at all until we were sure God was leading us to date exclusively, with intent toward marriage. We both believed strongly that when God puts people together, love will grow and blossom as the two strive to serve Him together. We did not need “chemistry” and sparks to know God’s leading.

There were many emails, outrageous international long distance call bills, and a couple of trips down to South Carolina to visit Lloyd and his children. At times, I felt unworthy of the love of such a wonderful, godly man, yet things were happening in such a way that I knew before Lloyd did that he was the one for me. I had a perfect peace about this. I did not tell Lloyd and waited while he sorted things out with the Lord. On January 16, 2013, Lloyd asked me to marry him via video chat. He teased me the day prior that he had an investment opportunity for me which he had found on the internet and researched thoroughly, telling me that it was no scam. I thought he was into some pyramid scheme sales. Meanwhile, he meant “me”! My mother and I drove down the next day to visit my fiancé. Lloyd waited to give me a beautiful birthstone engagement ring just before midnight ringing in my 50th birthday on January 20, 2013. God has been so good. We are working on the immigration visa process and expect to marry later this year.
