Len’s Side:
I was on ChristianMingle for a year and was about to give up when on July 12, 2013 – just before canceling my account – I saw a profile regarding this woman named Ruth. After reading her profile, she listed the first and most important thing being her faith in Christ, I sent her an Instant Message asking if she would like to chat with me, and she said yes. 

Ruth’s Side:
I read Len’s profile as we were chatting and I noticed right away that he was a believer in Christ and was looking for a woman who believed the same. We chatted for an hour regarding our faith, interests (we shared so many), and before we ended the chat we made plans to chat again the next day. 

Len’s Side:
After about two weeks Ruth offered to take an updated profile photo of me to post, and so we set up our first date at Logan’s restaurant in Grand Rapids. While having dinner, Ruth advised she had just joined on July 12th – the same day I was going to cancel my account. I was amazed. We talked for 3 1/2 hours and Ruth broke out in song to Carrie Underwood’s ‘See You Again.’ She warned me that she loves to sing and doesn’t care where she is. I didn’t mind at all; I loved her voice.  I walked her to her car and we stood there for another half-hour, just talking. She never did take that picture.

Ruth’s Side:
I asked Len if it would be okay if I sent him morning messages wishing him a good day, and he was happy with that. I didn’t hear from Len for three days so I sent him a text to see if he was okay.  After texting for a while we set up our second date.  We met at Uccellos and after dinner we decided to go for frozen yogurt in Plainwell where there was a park with swings. I asked him if we could go swing and he didn’t take me seriously at first. I tugged him towards the swings and he ended up pushing me on the swing. He thought I was adorable. He kissed me that night for the first time. The next day I asked the Lord who I should focus on, if there was anyone worthy of my love. I felt led to Len. I was going out to his house that Saturday. I couldn’t wait.

Len’s Side:
That Saturday, after our second date, Ruth arrived at my house.  I was excited and nervous when I saw her pulling in.  I showed her my cars that I restore when she looked over and saw a wooden swing that I had for a long time unused. Of course that is where we spent the remaining part of our day and night.  I had a birthday party to go to and I didn’t want her to leave so I stayed with Ruth instead.  My friend understood.

We knew after only a couple of months that the Lord was the one who orchestrated us meeting and it was going to be something very special. We decided to meet on Wednesdays for date night at Uccellos and have never missed one.  We are so thankful to the Lord for giving us a forever love for each other that will continue to grow over time.  We pray and have devotionals together to grow stronger in the Lord. 

We got engaged on August 20, 2014 and are excited to be married this May 30, 2015.  We both thought ChristianMingle’s commercials were filled with paid actors and actresses, but we came to realize that the Lord does indeed work through this website.  It is real and we have recommended it to others looking for their forever love.
