It all started when we both were going through the slideshow of pictures on ChristianMingle and said “yes” to one other’s picture. Rob smiled at me and I smiled back. This all happened around the end of February 2012. Then, Rob messaged me and because I was not a paying member, I was not able to see his message. That’s when I decided to pay the membership just because I wanted to talk to him!

It must have been February 28th or 29th, 2012 when we first messaged each other. My first email to him was on March 1st and we would talk on and off for a few months after that.

Our first video chat was March 9th. I remember because he was so nervous to talk to me! The conversation was short, but it was the start of something great. A few months later, I finished school and went off on a trip to Hawaii in May. Just before my trip, he reconnected with me again and we have been talking ever since.

Once I got back from Hawaii, I drove an hour drive down to his home. When we met it was like we had been together for years. It was so comfortable and we hugged and kissed. That was May 25th. We were inseparable that weekend and continue to be. When it came time to go back home, he asked me to be his girlfriend and of course I said yes.

The summer went by so fast and we had such a good time walking the beaches, playing mini golf, going out to eat, and just having a great time. I got a new job in October. He was constantly on the hunt for a new job in my area.

On November 10th, we went to see all the damage from Hurricane Sandy. The entire week before I went down to his area, he told me that he had a surprise and that even my friends knew. He played the song by Bruno Mars, “Marry Me” about 100 times. It gave me a clue as to what the surprise was. We made it to the beach and started walking, looking at the damage and collecting sea glass, shells, and rocks like usual. He started walking away, but I was paying attention to a helicopter flying overhead checking out all the damage. Meanwhile, he found a flat space and wrote, “Will You Marry Me?” in the sand. He yelled over to me to come check out something and when I turned to look at what he was showing me, he got down on one knee, took my hand, and asked me to be his wife. I said yes! It felt so good to know that he was mine and I was going to be able to spend the rest of my life with him.

We set the wedding date for September 28, 2013. Rob said he wanted it in the Spring and I had asked him if he wanted the wedding to be this next Spring or the Spring after. He said that those times were too close and too far away. I suggested Fall because of the warm weather, great colors, and because of its proximity. We agreed and that’s the date we chose!
