Rayshelle and I met on ChristianMingle at the end of May 2012.  We talked online for a little bit, then moved to phone conversations, and then finally a first date.  Everything went well, though Rayshelle was very nervous, and we saw each other again when Rayshelle invited me to a movie night at her church.  We both liked each other a lot, but the timing was not quite right for us to start a serious relationship.

Looking back on it now, we can both see that God had a lot of work yet to do in our hearts and in our lives, and when Rayshelle picked up the phone six months later to ask me a question about baseball, both of us had grown considerably from the last time we had seen each other.  After that phone call in late January, Rayshelle and I started a five-month friendship that would eventually lead me to asking her for a second date.

In that time, God led us to be honest, open, and loving with one another without all the pressure that comes with dating.  Rayshelle and I were able to get to know each other as friends first, and to enjoy worship, praise, and prayer side-by-side prior to us dating again.

We both felt strongly that God was calling us to be a couple, and in November I asked Rayshelle, in front of sixty of our family and friends, to take my hand in marriage.  Nine months later, on Sunday, August 10, 2014, Rayshelle and I were married at our church with 180 of our friends and family in attendance.

We both feel that God used ChristianMingle to spark a connection between us.  And though our story is not a traditional road to marriage, we have felt the Lord’s presence and guidance throughout the journey.
