How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
My name is Andrew and I met my fiancée, Rachel, on ChristianMingle in March 2016. We love to reminisce and tell the story of our meeting. She had been on the site for over two weeks looking for Christians in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area with little luck. I had decided to get on the site one day and she was the first girl I tried to contact. I was trying to reach out without a full profile, and realizing it was unlikely to get a response without pictures, I paid for a one-month subscription fee and created an account. She responded later that day and we got to know one another over the phone before deciding to meet. She was the only girl I spoke to on the site and we both deleted our accounts soon after.
Our first date was at a local favorite restaurant of mine. I had to make sure she had good taste. My night started out awkwardly before Rachel even arrived, as I mistakenly introduced myself to the wrong blonde. Nonetheless, when Rachel actually got there our eyes lit up and we were soon having a wonderful dinner. We were able to talk about everything important in our lives and expound on what we told about ourselves online. She was amazing and I could not have asked for a better first date.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I certainly cannot say it was Cupid’s arrow, but The Holy Spirit that worked on my heart and helped me find the love of my life. My time dating Rachel was wonderful and we got along so well. I was often worried about the eventual let down, the shattering moment when you realize this person isn’t who you thought they were.
That never happened. I believe that when you trust in Christ, He will never let you down. He takes the burdens of your relationships and upholds and surpasses any standard you might set for a partner. When Rachel and I kept focused on the Lord, our relationship continued to blossom and through good and bad times, we pointed one another to him. I knew I loved her and wanted to marry her. This was not at any particular moment, but as I spent more time with her. She makes me a better man, a man of God. I love who I am when I am with her and I only pray I do the same for her.
What advice would you give other ChristianMingle members?
Our advice to the members of this site would be to have fun! The Lord will take care of you and knows your future and who will walk with you. Whether you find love on this site or not, it is a great experience and a chance to think about who you are as a Christian and what you truly want in your partner.
I know that ours is just one example of the many success stories ChristianMingle has, and that is not insignificant. It speaks to the great platform that has been provided for Christians to meet one another and connect with those who already share a commonality in their relationship with Christ. Rachel and I have been on different walks with the Lord, but it was wonderful to be able to find someone with similar interests and goals that I knew were built on a foundation of faith. I am thankful for the gift that was given to me in my fiancée and the platform of this site to do so.
