If you were entrusted with a large farmland and you knew the rains would be coming soon, what would you do? You would get serious about preparing for the rain, right?

You would find people to help you get the soil tilled and the seeds planted. You probably wouldn’t wait around to get moving until you saw the heavy clouds full of precipitation forming or until you felt the first raindrops. That would be a late start. By that time you would be scurrying around in the mud to take care of the arduous task of sowing seeds.

If we are praying expectantly for “rain” – or God’s provision of bringing each of us into the life of a godly spouse and forming between us a family and lifestyle that exalts Jesus Christ; then what are we doing with this “farmland” of singleness that God’s entrusted to us right now?

What seeds are you sowing in this season?

Psalms 85:11 says: “Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give what is good and our land will yield its harvest.”

If we want to see “faithfulness spring up from the earth” shouldn’t we roll up our sleeves as faithful “farmers” by His grace and strength? God promises to give us “what is good.” We can trust in Him to bring the “rains” of provision in our life, but let’s maximize the time of preparation that He is giving us right now.

Be encouraged – none of us will arrive at perfection before the good rains come, but take heart that God knows what He wants to develop in us in this particular season. Simply commit to cooperate with Him with a humble spirit. Remember: “the Lord will indeed give what is good and our land will yield its harvest.” He knows what is best!
