As believers, we all have a saving faith. It’s the faith that no one can take away from us if we remain strong. We believe in God not because we can see Him in all of His glorious form, but because we believe in the love of God and what He has done for us. We believe in His work and we have hope in the story of God laid out upon the earth.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  —Hebrews 11:1

A Gift Of Ministry

Now, we know as believers that we are not to be just listeners, but doers. We are created to work out our salvation, to spread His beautiful and life-giving name across the world. So, God enables each of us with certain gifts as said in 1 Corinthians 12, one of these being the gift of faith.

“To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers…”  —1 Corinthians 12:8-10

I don’t know about you, but my eyes kind of re-read that over and over again. God distributes the gift of faith? Yes! It’s not just an all-saving faith that we have and hold for life, but it’s something that is also a gift of ministry.

The Body Of Christ

In this same letter in 1 Corinthians, it later states how when some parts of the spiritual body are weak, we remain strong for them.

“On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”  —1 Corinthians 12:22-26

Isn’t that a wonderful truth to know about being in the body of Christ? If I lack faith, and sometimes I stumble in believing that God will work, it’s amazing to know that God distributed faith to all believers so that I may be encouraged to not only believe that God will come through, but that my faith can also grow.

Those who have mighty faith in what God can do discover that their faith is a beautiful gift in unexpected ways. Those who perhaps have a weaker faith will be able to be edified and encouraged through the body of believers. So, if we know we have been given the gift of faith, may we cultivate it, grow it, nourish it and use it to spiritually bless others who may be in need of help in their walk with their Father.

We’re all a part of the same body, just as it is written – it’s just a matter of functioning as one. If we see someone hurting in their faith, may we be there to lift them up.
