People say you will find love when you least expect it, which is exactly what happened to both Jeff and I. At the time, we were searching for the right one, but were unable to find them in the usual places. We finally found what we were looking for on ChristianMingle, when we had all but given up hope of ever finding someone!

My search area was within 100 miles of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My family is very important to me, so I did not want to move too far away from them. After six months of searching on ChristianMingle, I had given up hope of finding someone. One day I logged on to my account and I saw a member who had recently checked out my profile. I decided to view his profile eventhough he was not within my search area. I was intrigued by how our values seemed so aligned, how we shared similar interests, and was especially interested in the fact that he was a locomotive engineer.

Thinking I had nothing to lose, I decided to initiate the first contact. We started exchanging various emails, but I still thought I would never even end up meeting him, given how we lived so far apart. Nonetheless we exchanged phone numbers, and to my utmost disbelief, our first conversation lasted for two hours! That marked the beginning of countless hours we would soon spend on the phone thereafter.

At the end of April, Jeff informed me he would be going to Maryland and asked if he could visit me on the way. I was afraid we wouldn’t feel a connection in person, but I decided to take the plunge. We finally met for the first time on a rainy afternoon. We were both really nervous, but we still managed to have a great time. We spent all of Saturday together, and I was thrilled to hear that he would stop by to visit me on the way back to Ohio the following weekend.

The long distance was tough, but fortunately we found a way to meet every 2-3 weeks. Through the whole time we dated, I could see how God gave us enough strength and patience to make it through our toughest times.

In mid-June, Jeff asked me over the phone if I’d be willing to move to Ohio if we got married. At the time, I couldn’t fathom living far away from my family, while he on the other hand couldn’t find another job elsewhere. Since neither of us wanted to move, I pondered if we should go our separate ways. But we decided to stay together, hoping for the Lord’s plan to unravel before us.

In the next few months, Jeff realized that he needed change and agreed to look for a job in my area. Unfortunately, the job hunt was not easy; there were no openings in his line of work in Pennsylvania. Despite this setback, we knew it in our hearts we were meant to be together and so on November of last year, Jeff proposed! And of course I said yes!

On March of this year we were married at my church in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It was a rainy day, but that did not damper our moods. We were just so happy to finally be getting married! It was the happiest day of our lives!

The verse that always came to mind all through our relationship and was the key verse at our wedding was: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:20).

Even though the first six months of our marriage was much more complicated than either of us anticipated, we wouldn’t change a thing. I know if it weren’t for ChristianMingle, and God’s direction, Jeff and I would have never met. This has been the best six months of my life and we are so excited to be spending the rest of our lives together!
