I received a “Smile” from Sidney on May 23, 2014.  I wasn’t too eager to speak to him, however, because he lived far away.  With a little coercing from my sister, and knowing I had limited time during the trial period, I decided that I didn’t want to waste my money.  I had signed up to talk to men.  I was already chatting with a few other people.

I responded to Sidney (GeneralSandman), and we began to write each other every day.  I was eager to check my email every afternoon to see what he wrote.  We also used the features on the site. My “Color Code” personality result was ‘blue’ and his color was ‘white.’  The compatibility tool was useful also.
Sidney traveled a lot, so about two weeks after we met he asked if I was comfortable exchanging emails. He would not be able to access his ChristianMingle inbox out of the country.  We exchanged emails and continued to get to know each other via email for most of June.  He then suggested I download Viber, an app that offers free phone calls and text messaging, so I downloaded the app and our endless conversation continued.  We were very up front with each other.  I told Sidney that I was honest about everything.  Whatever questions he asked, I would tell the truth. Either you want to be with me or you don’t.  This is who I am. We asked tough questions via email and Viber text.  Whatever came to our mind was mentioned… so there was no doubt.  We spoke about God, our children, our past, and future plans. We laughed and joked a lot also.  He always had something funny to say.  It’s very hard to trust someone after you’ve been hurt, but Sidney made it easy, even though he was so far away.  He called when he said he would.  He would write to me as promised.  If he missed a call, he would write and let me know why.  He was very consistent and it helped to build trust.

After a month of emails and Viber messages, I called Sidney.  He was out of the country at the time and I could tell it surprised him.  I wanted to hear his voice.  Who was this man I had come to call the “Smooth General?” We then began talking and agreed to chat using Facetime.  Our first “Facetime Date” was awesome.  From there we set a date to meet in person.  Our date was rescheduled once.  I decided that if he rescheduled a second time, I would move on.  My feelings for him were growing and I didn’t want to feel for someone who might not have been as interested as I.

Sidney traveled to Houston from San Antonio on July 13, 2013.  I gave our itinerary to my mother and my brother (who’s a police officer).  I took a picture of his license plate and sent this information to my family also.  Later I found that he did the same. We visited a museum, and attended my sister’s baby shower where he met my mother, brother, and sister. From there we played Putt Putt Golf and air hockey.  We had dinner that night and we attended church together the next morning. On July 14th, he asked me to be his girl.  I couldn’t stop smiling, and of course I said yes. He spent the holidays meeting the family and my kids. The family loved him, his kids loved me, my kids loved him, and I loved his. Every encounter that I had with this man was peaceful.  God’s hand was definitely upon us.

On Father’s Day 2014 he proposed to me with my entire family present.  I love Sidney.  God has done exceedingly, abundantly, and above all I could think. I had no idea it would come through ChristianMingle. Sidney tried other websites, but they failed. It was God’s plan for us to meet this way.  He was praying for a wife and I prayed that God’s love for me was manifested in the flesh.  I thank him daily for his love… my love.
