We’re not yoKatie & Eric - CM 4ur typical bride and groom!
God is working in the hearts and lives of single men and women by bringing them together through ChristianMingle! We, Eric and Katie, would like to thank ChristianMingle for providing a godly and extraordinary avenue for God to move in both of our love lives. Just how did the Lord work in our lives through ChristianMingle?  You are going to want to read this!

God, the author of our love story, knew our destiny from the beginning of time. Our love story began in July 2015 when we sent “smiles” through ChristianMingle. Both of us lived in Alaska at the time. We exchanged messages, then phone numbers, and then had our first date at a coffee shop shortly thereafter! Eric noticed the loving depths of my eyes and I felt the warmth of Eric’s smile. We both knew something was very different about each other, unlike any other! We talked for hours outside of the coffee shop, gazing into each other’s eyes; so much so, we did not even notice the shop had closed!

The following Sunday, we attended church together. The title of the sermon that Sunday was the same name of Eric’s home church in New York! Since we do not believe in coincidences, we knew God was up to something! We ate lunch together at a restaurant on Lake Hood (the world’s busiest seaplane base), had laugh attacks, and watched the seaplanes take off and land. We had so much fun any time we were together and continued to grow closer to God and to each other!

Eric had recently returned from deployment and flew home to New York to visit family. He asked me to come visit him there. After praying, I took a huge leap of faith and flew across the country from Alaska to New York to see Eric! We had the time of our lives and felt the Holy Spirit moving us closer. We professed our love for each other there one evening, under the stars, and rejoiced with singing praises to God, “God of wonders beyond our galaxy, you are holy!” We praised God, for we knew our crazy love could only be from Him. We both continued to pray and knew in our hearts that God made us only for each other. Eric returned to Alaska after a couple of weeks.

One Katie & Eric - CM 3September evening, Eric took me to Lake Hood to watch the seaplanes. When walking along the dock, a
beaver swam right up to us! I turned around to look at Eric and he was down on one knee with a ring! Eric held me by the hand and popped the question!  I replied, with a huge smile, “Si, mi amor!”

The Lord’s timing is perfect! God is never too late or too early, too fast or too slow.  He has always been and always will be right on time. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 tells us, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

We asked our pastor if he would do our pre-marital counseling. He talked with us about some of the challenges and blessings of marriage. At that time, we told him we wanted to have our wedding ceremony on a glacier!  He said, “So, let me get this straight…You are going to fly in a helicopter, land on a glacier, have the ceremony, take pictures, and fly back?!” We replied without hesitation, “Yes, are you in?” Our pastor answered with hesitation, “Yes?  YOLO!?!”

On the day of our wedding, the forecast was rain, wind, and some snow. Being in a helicopter and landing on a glacier when it is windy, rainy, and with a possibility of snow? Both the helicopter company and the pastor called me that morning and asked what the backup plan was.  I replied, “It is Alaska, you do not change your plans; you just change your gear!”

Katie & Eric - CM 1We all arrived at the airport and the helicopter pilot told us it was going to be a little bumpy, but that we could still get to the glacier safely. There were six of us and we got in the helicopter, took off from Girdwood, and the flight was breathtaking!  You cannot see these parts of Alaska without a helicopter! We were all stunned by the blue ice, the glacier caves, and the massive enormity of beauty!  God is an amazing artist! The ceremony was so romantic and sweet.  As we prayed, the rain held off and the sun peaked out.

Our romantic and adventurous wedding ceremony completely reflected our unique, adventurous, and fun way of living life to the fullest that people always call us crazy for!  We wanted our wedding day to be nothing less than that!

The icing on the cake was when we returned to the helicopter hangar. Our pilot gave us a bible with a meaningful note on the inside cover. He wrote, “Katie and Eric, may the Lord guide you through your life together by reading His word.”  There are no words to describe just how much that meant to us!

Our pastor chose John 10:10 as the main bible verse for our wedding, not realizing it was the same as our wedding date, 10/10. It was so perfect and only by God’s grace! Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Our “crazy love” was made possible through ChristianMingle and we are forever grateful!
