I was married to my late husband of almost 40 years until he passed away on February 28, 2011. My husband had dementia for 7 years and after a long battle with this disease, he went home to the Lord. About a year after his death, I decided to go on ChristianMingle.  I missed the companionship that a man and woman share. I had been on the site for a couple of months, and I really did not know what to expect. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about the online dating scene. I talked to a few men here and there and made a couple of friendships in those few months via e-mail. I was thinking this might not be the way for me to meet men until I received an email on March 25, 2012.

A gentleman named Bill contacted me and in his email he simply said, “What’s up?”  I replied with “What’s up with you?” That was the start of communication with Bill, which happened via e-mail daily for a week. We then started talking on the phone for 3 hours a day until we decided to meet on April 22, 2012. I was nervous about meeting Bill since I had not dated in 42 years. I continuously thought about cancelling the date but in the end, I chose to go. I was so happy I did! Bill made me feel very comfortable– it was a great afternoon with many laughs and great conversation. The moment we met, Bill said, “I knew from the moment we started talking that we are a match made in heaven”.

After the initial date, we made plans to spend more time together.  Things were going so wonderfully! I had never thought I would ever find true love again after the love I shared with my husband.  On March 3, 2013, Bill proposed to me.
