Our journey began when I sent Doug a Smile on January 28th, 2010.  He quickly replied the following day. Not sure what I was looking for, I convinced myself he would not reply to the Smile I sent him. But he did. Our almost daily conversation from that point on created a secure friendship I knew I would have even if our romantic relationship didn’t go anywhere. We emailed for two months, then began talking on the phone, and shortly after, we went on our first date.

Needless to say, there was no immediate attraction to each other. We continued to communicate with each other as we didn’t want to give up on the friendship we had. We experienced some ups and downs in our relationship that were quite unexpected. Through those times, our relationship changed and we both grew closer together. As we grew closer, the attraction and feelings we had for one another became stronger.

On February 11th, 2012, Doug proposed. On June 15th, 2013, we were married. I can’t imagine my life without him.
