Our story started back on March 17, 2012 when I read the most amazing profile I had ever seen on ChristianMingle. I couldn’t help but send Heaven a message introducing myself and asking if she would be interested in getting to know me via the website. A day later, she wrote back, and we began messaging. The more that we messaged, the more excited I became! Soon, we started having long phone calls and I can honestly say, I have never in my life opened up to anyone the way that I opened up to her.
Of course I wanted to meet Heaven and I kept battling whether or not to take the 12 hour trip to go and see her. On April 23, I decided to drive and spend a week with Heaven and her family. I will never forget the first time I saw her. On the road to her parents’ house, my GPS couldn’t find the location and I ended up passing her house! She was on the phone with me during this and she immediately ran out into the road and told me to turn around. When I saw her, it was the greatest feeling in the world. Without a shadow of a doubt, driving to see her was the best move I have ever made.
The whole week we spent together was so incredible; we walked, went to the zoo, ate at her favorite restaurant, and ended up going to her Wednesday church service. After returning back home to Tennessee, I realized how much I really needed this woman in my life. I soon went to visit her again. During my trip, her parents offered me a place to stay until I could get a steady job there and I moved there in May of 2012. It was a decision we were thrilled about and we knew it was the right one.
In June our love continued to grow and I had a special dinner set up where I gave her a promise ring. She was thrilled! Things between us just seem to continue to get better and I said to her, “What would you say if I asked you to marry me?” She said she would say yes if she was asked properly. At the moment, I was the happiest man alive! We talked to her folks and got their blessing and after a road trip to my home state of Virginia, at Lover’s Leap Mountain, I got down on one knee and asked Heaven officially to marry me. She was beyond ecstatic! We are now planning our wedding for April 6, 2013!
Last year at this time I never would have thought that I’d be getting married but in all honesty, I have never been happier. It all happened when I least expected it and I just gave it all to God. In return, He gave me my very own angel.
