When relationships have seemingly failed and dating seems hopeless, it’s easy to lose faith in the idea that there’s someone special in the world just for you. This is indeed a test of faith, but it is important to remember God has indeed created a person for you. When your faith in God’s plan starts to falter, keep these three simple reminders in mind.

Fear Not

In Genesis, we learn about the story of creation. When God creates Adam, He is aware there is a need for a companion. That spurs the creation of Eve.

This is spiritual evidence that God is very aware of our desire to love and share our lives with another. After all, God is the one who gave us the gift of love and companionship in the form of other humans and animals. So, of course, our need for a life partner is no surprise to Him.

And, if God had the forethought to create Eve for Adam, He had the same when it came to creating you. Remember, God’s not the forgetful type. So, you’ve no need to worry that maybe he skipped a step.

Besides, there’s a great deal more evidence of this in His words to us: “Fear not, for I am with you.” As we know, we are never truly alone. We have God. The more we come to trust that, the less likely we are to let fear override our faith that God indeed does have someone for us. He may simply want us to learn our lessons and love ourselves before allowing that union.

Failure Is A Mirror

Speaking of learning our lessons, that’s typically the purpose of those “failed” relationships. In fact, there’s no such thing as failure when it comes to romance (or friendships, for that matter). What may be perceived as failure is actually just a mirror for us to see where growth and healing is needed. Though it can be difficult to look at, this accurate reflection is a necessary one and it’s something to be grateful for with regard to relationships that didn’t work out.

The latter provide the teaching opportunities we need to spur us forward on our personal path and motivate us toward our soul mission. Additionally, they aid in the personal preparation required to ready us for our life partner – the one God has in mind for us, as soon as we are ready.

Find Yourself, Find The One

People often think they’re ready to find their soulmate. They believe it to be true because they’re tired of being alone or are in a place in their life where it seems necessary or natural to settle down.

However, being ready in God’s eyes is about being capable. And, in case there’s any confusion, capability to find and love another requires finding and loving yourself.

God wants us to first find and love ourselves before we are granted our soulmate. In other words, God isn’t holding out on us; we are. If we do not first love ourselves, we cannot love anyone else, and the mirror – any significant other – will reflect that.

So, if relationships have failed, it doesn’t mean your dating life is hopeless or that God forgot to create your mate. It simply means you need to remember that God gave you free will. He doesn’t place you like pieces on a game board. You make choices.

When you see the outcomes of your choices not giving you what you desire, it’s time to look at yourself and what you could do differently, not God. That’s the time to push aside your fear, take a hard look at the mirror the past relationships have provided, heed the lessons and do the work on yourself and learn to love you, completely. Only then are you ready for that special someone.
