My husband and I met on and we couldn’t be more shocked! I was recently abandoned in my previous relationship, and just wanted to believe there were still good Christian men in the world. It didn’t matter to me if they were across the world – as long as I knew there were good men out there somewhere. I kept seeing ChristianMingle’s ads pop up on the sidebar of my Internet browser, but thought it would be silly to join. I also thought it would keep me safe and allow an appropriate barrier to any conversation.

Just a few hundreds of miles away, this ChristianMingle commercial wouldn’t stop playing on television. My now husband, Robert, couldn’t stop thinking about it, but as a man of pride, didn’t think he needed to find love online. God kept putting it on his heart, and on the same day as I, Robert signed up for We both saw each other’s profiles and were instantly suggested to each other, but the experience was overwhelming, so he simply sent me a “Smile.”

We both were a little overwhelmed with learning how the site worked and with the number of matches we had, but mutually responded to each other’s emails. For three weeks we emailed back and forth pages of messages to each other. It soon became time to renew the membership and neither one of us wanted to pursue it further. As the Lord planned it, I was on my way down for a vacation in his area of California, and I just felt led to ask to meet him. I told him I did not want to pursue a relationship, but I had dwindled my matches down to him and one other person and needed to cut ties. He agreed and we exchanged numbers in anticipation for my trip. Once there, I worked up the courage to call and we agreed to meet up in a couple days. My friend that I was visiting was concerned that I would be in danger, since I had no idea if this guy was legit, so I had her watch us meet and make sure that I wasn’t scared to go out with him.

Once our eyes met, it was nothing but smiles! We walked an outdoor outlet mall and I can’t remember really one store that we were in. I was enamored with his smile, his gentle voice and sweet chivalry. He opened every door for me, including the car, and he wouldn’t let me pay for coffee when we decided to stop for some. All day was spent laughing and talking. When he had to leave, I knew I couldn’t let him go. I had absolutely no intention of taking it past a spontaneous get together, but now I really felt like it was love at first sight! We spent nearly every day of the rest of my vacation doing something together, spending hours hanging out and talking.

This turned into a sudden commitment to date long distance. The short story is we spent two years apart, taking turns flying back and forth to visit each other. Every day we spent hours talking on the phone – once even spending a full eight hours talking! After the first year, he surprised me, with my parents help, and proposed! It was truly a beautiful moment I will never forget. The next year was spent apart planning the wedding and on April 14, 2013 we finally married each other at a beautiful golf club. It was truly the happiest day of my life. We’ve almost been married two years and I have to say I am so blessed to have met such an amazing, loving, and strong man of God.

I never would have thought you could find this kind of love on a website. God’s perfect man for me didn’t have to be that far. I am so thankful for the opportunity I had to meet my husband, because without, we would never know the incredible marriage or the beautiful relationship that we treasure today!
