When I first started communicating with Dan, I knew he was special. We both had been divorced for about 10 years and about the same time in our lives; we decided to give online dating a try. He was on ChristianMingle first but he did not find anyone that interested him. I joined another online dating service previous to ChristianMingle, went on a lot of first dates, but did not have a connection with anyone. After my three month membership with that site expired, a friend told me about ChristianMingle. I was not totally optimistic about trying another dating website, but decided I would give it one more try. I said to myself if I didn’t meet anyone right away, I would interpret it as God wanting me to remain single. I prayed that if it was God’s will for me to meet someone that it would happen right away. I joined on a Friday and sent a bunch of smiles out, but Dan’s profile really stood out to me. When I didn’t hear back from him, I sent him another smile the next day. He told me later that he was in the habit of checking his ChristianMingle every day but he had grown discouraged and did not check it as often as he used to. The day after I sent him a second smile, Dan logged on and responded to my smile and asked me to take the Compass Test. After comparing our answers, it was obvious that we had a lot in common. It was then that I started feeling very excited that I finally might have found God’s match for me.

We exchanged cell phone numbers and began communicating via text message. We then had a phone conversation and agreed to meet for our first date that upcoming weekend. He arrived first and when I saw him waiting outside for me, it was love at first sight! It was supposed to be a coffee date but the funny thing is we didn’t order anything. Instead, we just sat there and talked for about 4 hours! We had so much in common and felt an immediate bond. Dan is an open, honest, straight forward, funny, warm and shy kind of a guy and everything I ever wanted in a man. After that date, we started talking on the phone, texting and emailing – we used every mode of communication possible and quickly set up another date for the following weekend. We met at the same coffee shop but this time we actually ordered a bottle of water to share! It was on that date that I knew I was head over heels in love with him, but I was afraid that I might scare him away thinking it was too soon for me to have these kind of feelings. Our next date was our first night out to dinner – we went for Chinese and I remember being so nervous I almost felt like a teenager again. That was the night of our first kiss and I will never forget it! I could not wait to see him again! The next date, we decided to go out for pizza. I remember it was a really nice night out so after we had dinner we decided to just take a drive. We just held hands as he drove and I remember the way the moon looked that night and I just looked up and started thanking God for bringing us together. When he dropped me off at my car, he told me he was in love with me and I immediately told him I felt the same way! We started talking about getting married right way but agreed that maybe we should date at least a year just to be sure. So the following year, on January 29th Dan surprised me with a diamond. We were at his house having lunch when he asked if I wanted dessert. He took out a little cake in a box and had placed the diamond on top. At first I didn’t see it because it just looked like part of the cake until he pointed it out. I will never forget that day. We went shopping for a setting together and then waited. Then on the one year anniversary of our first date, we went to dinner to celebrate. After dinner, he drove to the coffee shop where we had our first date and gave me the ring. I know in my heart that meeting Dan was part of God’s wonderful plan for our lives! We were married on June 8, 2013 and we couldn’t be happier!
