We met on ChristianMingle. I didn’t like having to show interest first, but he kept showing up on my matches, so I finally gave in and sent him a smile. We talked for several weeks through the website before we gave each other our real contact information. He was living two hours away, so it took a while before he asked if he could come meet me. Our first date was lunch at Olive Garden. It wasn’t like a normal first date because we had been talking before we met. We ended up driving around all afternoon because neither of us wanted to end the date.

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I think I knew it was for real the night he got baptized. I had been holding back a little because I had seen relationships between a believer and a non-believer go bad. But when he committed to a life with Christ, the last of my doubts was gone. But it was still a couple of months before either of us said “I love you.” We’re both kind of shy.

What advice would you give other ChristianMingle members?
Make sure you set your radius big enough; I didn’t show up on Christopher’s matches because he was looking too close to home.

Be open to someone who doesn’t meet everything on your checklist. God has someone in mind for you, so trust him, and pray that you will be led to your match. You might find someone who lives too far away, or isn’t a member of your church, or doesn’t have the education or job you were hoping for, but those things can change (or how much they matter to you can change). Find the person with the right morals and personality. The rest is just details. And don’t be afraid to make the first contact. Your match might have their filters set too high and they don’t see you.
