It is easy to be drawn into what is happening around the world with tragedies such as famine, war, economic downfall or natural disasters. With media at our fingertips through television, radio, internet, phones, magazines, newspaper or social media sites, it is hard to get away from the troubles that afflict the human race. With the constant bombardment of upsetting news, how do we find our faith when surrounded by negativity?

What is faith? One of the many definitions for faith is believing in something without any proof of its existence. It is much harder to have faith than it is to believe what we see in front of us. So if all we see is heartache and tragedy, how do we have faith in God when He tells us to trust in Him? It is understandable why much of the world lacks hope.

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. —Matthew 17:20, KJV

Faith the size of a mustard seed; all we need is a tiny bit of faith and God will be there for us. We will have the power to move mountains and become all He has created us to be. Though we often get caught up in the minute, arduous tasks of the day, we have to take time out to breathe and bask in the glory of what God has put in front of us: nature, our loved ones and the many blessings He has already bestowed upon us.

Finding faith is as easy as giving thanks for what we have. Because in thanks we find appreciation, and in appreciation we find faith for what is to come. And as He has reminded us, faith as small as a mustard seed is all we need to move mountains.

God does not stop His blessings, grace and mercy just because the world has lost hope or is becoming increasingly difficult to live in. God is in control. He is in complete control of your life and nothing that happens in the natural realm can stop Him from showing favor in your life.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.John 15:5, KJV

Nature is a powerful reminder of who God is and what He can do. The perfection of trees, flowers, fruit, nuts, vegetables, plants, insects, birds, animals and the subsequent beauty of vast landscapes – these things keep going regardless of whether the world lacks hope. It is in these small but powerful factors that we find our own hope and faith. The trees continue to grow, the plants continue to bloom, the insects continue to prosper and the birds continue to fly. They have faith that the day will go on, life will move forward and the cycle of life will continue without fail.

Faith does not have to be large; it just has to be there. It is in faith we find hope and in hope we find peace. God brings us peace.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. —John 16:33, KJV

God is just waiting to pour out His blessings. He gives us mercy every day and grace to get through whatever life hands us. Our faith does not need to rely on the rest of the world. It does not matter what someone else thinks, says or does. Our faith and hope lies within us. It is ours to have and hold, and release. We release it so others may also find faith and revel in the peace it brings. God gives us beauty for our ashes – therefore, we must have faith that He is in control, even in our deepest hours. We just need to have faith, faith the size of a mustard seed.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. —Romans 4:5, KJV
