It’s so easy to be your own worst critic. However, when it comes to faith, how do you feel? I bet in the innermost parts of you, you sometimes think you could be a better servant to the Father. Could it be that this is just an echo of someone nearby that voiced this to you? Here is a truth to hold close: don’t allow anyone to ever make you feel inferior in your faith – not even yourself.
Watch Out For Wicked Words
God knows there are people who will slander and spew hate, but we can’t let them have victory over our minds, hearts, and souls. One of the most tactful ways of the enemy is to use lies, and what better lie than to have you believe that you lack faith and simply aren’t a good enough servant to the Father?
It’s that lying voice that’s telling you, “You’re a lousy Christian. You’re a horrible person. You’re a fake. You’re not enough. You need to be more like this person before you can call yourself a true Christian.” These lies produce an ache in God’s own heart; His desire is for us to pursue noble, lovely and holy things of this world, including embracing words of life, not words of death.
Be careful who you call friend; not everyone is the best encourager, and not everyone has your best interests at heart. Don’t ignore it when the words that come from their mouths make you suspicious, and don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself. Stand up for your faith in that very moment, relay your testimony and let it be known that they’re wrong and that only the Father’s opinion matters. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone; let your life be your story for the glorification of the Father.
“For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.” —Deuteronomy 10:17
Live For God, Not The Approval Of Others
Let your life be lived for God; there is nothing better than to know you’re doing all you can for the will and purposes of the Father. Believe it or not, but attacks will never stop over your lifetime; the enemy will do all he can to break you while you’re growing stronger. The feeling of inferiority stems from the helplessness of not being able to do more when someone makes you feel like you should be; don’t allow anyone to lord this over you.
Even Job, when he was being excluded from his friends because of his sufferings, stood up for the truth. He stood up for the person he knew he was and was called to be, even in his darkest times.
“But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these?” —Job 12:3
Take back the words spoken to you and speak truths over your own life. “You’re not inferior. You’re strong. You’re mightily strong and courageous. You belong to the Father and He belongs to you. You are chosen and called by Him. You are a holy prize in His eyes. You’re a holy soul He purely delights in.”
“I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” —Acts 10:34-35
I encourage you to be strong against the words spoken to you. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian speaks truth. Listen to those who edify, humbly correct, encourage and uplift, and who desire for you to walk into all God has ordained for you. God shows no partiality; you are worthy in His eyes and He loves you deeply as you are.
