I joined ChristianMingle just after the first of the year in 2012. My wife of 37 years had passed away in October of 2011 after a long, debilitating illness. She had required my 24/7 care for several years. We had a great marriage based on love, trust, admiration, and respect for one another. We were truly blessed.

One evening after my wife’s death, I saw a ChristianMingle commercial on TV and thought “Why not give this a try?” Even though it seemed a little too early, I pushed myself forward anyway. I hadn’t really thought through what consequences I might face. I started getting responses from ladies immediately after posting my profile and they required a response from me. This forced me to think deeply about my past relationship, my present circumstances, and what I really wanted in my life going forward. This, in and of itself, was a very worthwhile exercise for me to perform so that I could move on with my life.

After many back and forth email correspondences, phone calls, and vetting, I physically met with about a dozen ladies. They all turned out to be very nice but not exactly right for me. That is, until I met Barbara. We emailed and talked on the phone for about two weeks and then met for the first time on June 26, 2012. We decided to meet up in Daytona Beach, which was about an hour drive for each of us.

After a nice meeting and lunch, I escorted her to her car. Then the magic happened. As we reached her car door, I leaned over to kiss her, something I hadn’t planned to do. That’s when the sparks flew and they were mutual! We knew after three weeks that we were exactly right for one other and became engaged. We married October 20th, 2012.

We are so happy with our life together and we would never have met without getting up a little courage to subscribe to ChristianMingle and accepting God’s “divine positioning”.
