Eric and I met on ChristianMingle back in January of this past year. I had gone on another dating site for most of last year, at the urging of my 86 year old mom.  Shortly before she passed away, she told me that she wanted me to try to find someone because I was her only child without a spouse to love. She said she didn’t want to have to worry about me being alone.

I am disabled, and require the use of a power chair for distances due to an injury on a horse. Most of the guys that I connected with on other dating sites were either out-of-state, or scared off by my health issues. I saw the commercial for ChristianMingle on television this past December and posted my profile. I had forgotten about it, and had been in and out of the hospital with a second bout of breast cancer when I got an e-mail with Eric’s profile.  He looked like a neat guy, and I really liked his profile. The best thing of all was that he was only an hour away from me, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I sent him a smile and he responded back. We emailed one another and talked every night for at least an hour. We decided to meet officially in January, after Sunday church services. I was kind of afraid of telling him about my two bouts with the breast cancer. I had to have a double mastectomy, which had kind of left me feeling like less of a woman. I decided after much prayer to email him about my cancer before we met officially in person. He emailed me back with these words. “Do you think I would love you any less if we were married and you got breast cancer? I will accept you as you are now, and we will deal with the future together.” I broke down and cried when I read his answer, as deep down inside, I wondered if any man would want me because of my condition.

We met that Sunday after church. He came walking into the restaurant with a bouquet of roses.
Our relationship just took off so quickly! The fact that I’m in a power chair sometimes does not bother him and we have even learned how to hold hands and link arms on our outings. He has been such a joy to my life, and the answer to many years of prayer. He feels the same, as he is 52 years old and has never married because he could not find the right girl! He loves to laugh and is so romantic. We send ecards to one another throughout the day and recently I have started to write romantic poems to him. It has been such a wonderful life with him. He proposed on Saint Patrick’s Day and we are going to be married on July 30, 2011. I am eager to share the rest of my life with this sweet, wonderful man who I met on ChristianMingle!
