I met Matt in May 2010. While I was only on ChristianMingle for just a few weeks, Matt had been on ChristianMingle for about three years. When he spotted my profile, he felt God say, “You may pursue her.” And with that green light ahead, he initiated the first “wink.” After that, we began corresponding frequently and through that realized how similar our dreams lined up. Within a short few weeks, we both knew there were genuine feelings involved between each other. However, there were 1,400 miles stuck between us! I had forgotten to limit my potential “guys” to the state of Texas. Matt was from Michigan.
Because I didn’t think anything serious could develop because of our distance, I made the call to end corresponding with him. But, four months later, I received a text message from Matt wishing me a happy birthday. I was pleasantly surprised that he had remembered my birthday. And this is where the rest is history, as they say.
We went on our first face-to-face date in October of 2010. He was coming back from a short mission trip in Guatemala and his flight had an overlay in Houston — before heading back to Michigan. He decided not to board his plane in Houston and miss his flight “accidentally.” Our first date was nothing short of amazing and we have been inseparable ever since. Yes, the distance was hard and EXPENSIVE, but we stayed committed to seeing each other once a month. Somehow, God always provided for us both.
Matt and I were married on March 24, 2012 in a beautiful Spanish hacienda. Honestly, I can’t thank God enough for finding me this wonderful, Godly man I now call my “hubby.” Life is more adventurous with him by my side, and together we are following our dreams of opening up Christian orphanages in third world countries.
God says if we delight in Him, He will give us the desires of our heart. That dream of meeting your future husband can happen through ChristianMingle. It may not be the most conventional way, but sometimes God seems to work in mysterious ways.
