How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
Alexander & Alexandra 02Alex was the first gentleman who responded to my profile. I was hesitant to pay the money for a full membership, and reluctant to accept the first guy who came along, but curiosity got the better of me. However, since I had paid for a full six months, I was going meet people for a full six months. His attention was never forceful, but also never wavered. While I was chatting with everyone under the sun, we were patiently and cautiously getting to know each other.

After five months, we finally decided to meet. It was not a spectacular date. We lived four hours from each other and met in the middle for lunch at Perkins. We ended up spending all day together and lunch turned into dinner. Once we met, any hesitation or doubt was gone. At the same time, I was thankful for the time we had spent getting to know each other. We spent the next year traveling back and forth to each other’s house, and a year after we met for the first time, he asked me to marry him. We traveled to Greece to meet his family and announce our engagement. A year after that, everyone traveled to South Dakota to share in our joy on our wedding day and to celebrate our love.

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I don’t know that there was a moment when I knew it was true love. But, at some point, I realized I could not imagine my life without him. As we stood at the alter on our wedding day, I rejoiced in the fact that I never would have to imagine that.

Alexander & Alexandra 01What advice would you give other ChristianMingle members?
Talk to everyone. Talk to a million people. The more you talk to people, the more you learn about yourself and what you do and do not want in a future spouse. Ask good questions, be open, honest and direct (but polite and loving) in your communications. And take your time to get to know someone. And from a purely pragmatic perspective, pay careful attention to your profile, especially your pictures. Alex’s pictures were one of the things that really drew me to him. Not only because he was ridiculously good-looking, but because it showed he had a life, hobbies, friends and a family that he loved. These things providing a good jumping off point for conversations. However, he said he was not interested in a long-distance relationship which initially made me pass right over him.
