Akali and I first met on ChristianMingle in April of 2013. I had no distance preferences and I ran across her profile. She was living in DC, working as a senator’s intern. We exchanged messages 2-3 times on the site, and the first time we spoke (over phone), she was about to move to Orlando, FL, to be with her sister and brother-in-law. As we continued talking over phone, text, and Skype, we decided that I would fly to Orlando to meet Akali.

I flew from Alabama on June 30, 2013. We spent the day at Disney World and had a great time! From the moment we met, we could tell that our relationship would flourish. She, in turn, came to Alabama to meet my family in August of 2013. She not only met my parents, but also met my extended family and they all fell in love with her. I was afraid that my small town would not appeal to her, but Akali told me that she actually preferred a town like mine to live and raise a family.

I proposed to her in October of 2013, but did not have a ring. So, I OFFICIALLY proposed to Akali during Thanksgiving in 2013 and we were married on December 28, 2013. It was a bitter-sweet ceremony because most of her family lives in India and couldn’t be there. However, she has some family and friends from India that reside in the U.S., so they were able to make it to the wedding.

We have a strong relationship with God and rely on the Lord to strengthen and guide our marriage. I am thankful to Him and ChristianMingle for allowing me to meet such a beautiful and loving person, both inside and out.
